That would be weird if we ended up facing him when we play the Lions.
Knowing our luck, he'd end up going off for 300 yards and four touchdowns.

Still don't understand why they let him go other than Spielmans history of not being able to evaluate talent.

Who cares? The entire league has had the ability to sign sloter since we waved him and nobody wanted him. In a league where the qb position is so important I wonder why that is? Oh yeah probably because hes not a good qb prospect that nobody really values. And let's not give the freaking lions credit for anything other than being a doormat for 50 years

Maybe, or maybe there's something behind the scenes that other teams got word of. Still hard to imagine with his throwing ability and how well he played over multiple years of preseason games that some team wouldn't take a flyer on him as their 3rd QB. Like Miami? What would they have to lose? Something seems weird about his situation. That said, I really hope he plays against us. I really want to see what he looks like.

As I understand it he is their #2, for the moment, unless the Lions are foolish enough to let Stafford play with a broken back. At any rate, somebody wanted him, and anyone casting aspersions at the Lions from Vikingland isn't standing on very high ground.

Hes been available all year for any team to grab and the only reason hes even on Detroit's roster is because they are on their 10th qb this year. Its really a non story but I'd be thrilled if he started vs us in a few weeks

Hes not some hidden diamond in the rough anymore. Hes just a journeyman #3 QB at best

Excited for the matchup tonight? You’re dead on about the behind the scenes stuff. Wouldn’t surprise me if QB needy teams talked to Zimmer as a reference check...and even then, Zimmer did the kid no favors with all the public critiques during the preseason. Zimmer was relentless and public with Sloter’s struggles and I’m sure other teams got put off on Sloter’s potential.

I'm not trying to anoint him as a great QB. But I don't see how someone can't see he has potential, that at a minimum he deserves a #3 spot in this league. For that reason and the way he left here, there has to be some behind the scenes attitude issues and that word was out on that. Just my thought.

I get what you are saying its just telling when the entire league passes on a player. His abilities are telling because he played well at the highest level he's been given a chance to play at, yet his head coach still bad mouths him. The only thing that is telling about is a conflict between Zimmer and him, and that alone may be why teams passed on him. But as I've said a hundred times, he was never given a chance to play at a higher level so why would teams rush to give up a roster spot for a guy whose coach has never let him play against the 1's (or 2's?) AND whose coach is badmouthing him? If he was a proven prospect, teams would take that chance but the only thing he has proven is that he's excellent in preseason against the subs.

You are forgetting the fact that the Vikings were his 2nd organization so its not like everyone's opinion is based on his time in purple.

and yet here we are, with him signed to a roster before the season was up. Meanwhile, awesome talent Sean Mannion, with 258 yards in his 5 year NFL career, for under 5 yards per attempt and 0 Touchdowns, is signed to ours.
